چکیده

Within the latent growth curve model, time-invariant covariates are generally modeled on the subject level, thereby estimating the effect of the covariate on the latent growth parameters. Incorporating the time-invariant covariate in this manner may have some advantages regarding the interpretation of the effect but may also be incorrect in certain instances. In this article we discuss a more general approach for modeling time-invariant covariates in latent growth curve models in which the covariate is directly regressed on the observed indicators. The approach can be used on its own to get estimates of the growth curves corrected for the influence of a 3rd variable, or it can be used to test the appropriateness of the standard way of modeling the time-invariant covariates. It thus provides a test of the assumption of full mediation, which states that the relation between the covariate and the observed indicators is fully mediated by the latent growth parameters.

Using a latent growth curve model for an integrative assessment of the effects of genetic and environmental factors on multiple phenotypes

We propose the use of latent growth curve model to assess the influence of genetic, environmental, demographic, and lifestyle factors on multiple phenotypes related to coronary heart disease. We model four quantitative traits (systolic blood pressure, high-density lipoprotein, low-density lipoprotein, and triglycerides) simultaneously in a multivariate framework that allows us to study their ch...

Technical Efficiency of Nigerian Insurance Companies: A Data Envelopment Analysis and Latent Growth Curve Modelling Approach

The main purpose of this paper is to investigate the performance of Nigerian insurance companies using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). Because of the unavailability of the required data, the study is limited to ten Nigerian insurance companies for the period of five years from 2008 to 2012. The input employed were commission expenses and management expenses, while premium and investment income...

Predictions of Individual Change Recovered With Latent Class or Random Coefficient Growth Models

Popular longitudinal models allow for prediction of growth trajectories in alternative ways. In latent class growth models (LCGMs), person-level covariates predict membership in discrete latent classes that each holistically define an entire trajectory of change (e.g., a high-stable class vs. late-onset class vs. moderate-desisting class). In random coefficient growth models (RCGMs, also known ...

برآورد خطای پیش بینی برای وضعیت بقا و کاربرد آن درتحلیل بقای بیماران مبتلا به سرطان روده بزرگ

Introduction: Colorectal cancer is one of the most widespread and killer among cancers. It is important that we predict what status people have in the future. The purpose of this study was comparison of the Cox model and Kaplan-Meier curve with IBS and also identifying the factors about predicted survival time of patients with colon cancer. Materials & Methods: This paper is related to colore...

Structured latent curve models for the study of change in multivariate repeated measures.

This article considers a structured latent curve model for multiple repeated measures. In a structured latent curve model, a smooth nonlinear function characterizes the mean response. A first-order Taylor polynomial taken with regard to the mean function defines elements of a restricted factor matrix that may include parameters that enter nonlinearly. Similar to factor scores, random coefficien...
